On the day she died, Dolly Parton sent a gift to millions of children across America: ‘Chose to not be a billionaire’

Tributes for Dolly Parton are pouring in across the internet. Alex Perlman (pearlmania500) just made an emotional video that focuses on how her legacy is her intentional decision to prioritize community over personal wealth. He uploaded the video on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, accumulating over 18 million views in just one day. In it, he pointed out the impact of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to children regardless of their background.

In the post, Perlman said, “We should never forget that Dolly Parton chose to not be a billionaire. Cause she could have. Dolly Parton made so much money. She could have let her money make money. But instead, she chose to reinvest in people and her community. And today, when I went to my mailbox on the day she died, there was proof of that sitting right there, waiting for me. It was this book right here. Forts, from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.”
