Super Sunday will feature the final showdown of the NFL season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. No matter which team is hoisting the Lombardi in Glendale, a Washington State Cougar will be able to call himself champion.
Both the Eagles and the Chiefs feature a former WSU standout. For the Eagles, fan favorite Pullman legend Gardner Minshew is the primary backup to Philly starter Jalen Hurts. Also on the Eagles is offensive lineman Andre Dillard. Formerly a first round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, Dillard remains quality depth for perhaps the best offensive line in the league.
As for the Chiefs, they have cornerback Jaylen Watson. A seventh round pick in this year’s draft, Watson found himself starting six games for Kansas City, all while logging three interceptions. His first was certainly a memorable one, returning it 99 yards for a touchdown against the Chargers.
With Eastern Washington’s Cooper Kupp taking home Super Bowl MVP honors last year, and a WSU Cougar guaranteed to be a champion on Sunday, it’s been a good showing for college football in the Palouse.
