Olyroo Lewis Miller has joined a growing contingent of Scottish-based Australian footballers, signing a three-year deal with Hibernian.

Miller made 59 appearances in all competitions with Central Coast after debuting for the Mariners late in the 2018-19 A-League Men's season.

A powerful and athletic fullback, Miller will join the Scottish Premiership club following the conclusion of the Under-23 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan, where the 21-year-old has helped Australia into the quarter-finals.

The move is also a win for Macarthur FC, who will receive a payment from Hibs after Miller had sign a pre-contract with the Bulls prior to agreeing his move to Scotland when his contract with the Mariners expired recently.

"We have secured his services amongst fierce competition from interested parties in Scotland and across the globe," Hibs manager Lee Johnson said.

"Lewis is a real competitor in his game style and is blessed with the physical and technical attributes to seamlessly fit into the way we work."

Miller joins several Australians based in the Scottish Premiership including Socceroos centre-back Kye Rowles, whose own move to Hibs' Edinburgh rivals Hearts was confirmed earlier on Thursday.

Rowles will join fellow Socceroo Nathaniel Atkinson and another Australian in Cam Devlin at the Jambos, having signed a three-year deal to move to Tynecastle.

Former Newcastle Jets defender Matthew Millar is also in Scotland, with St Mirren.

Hibs has been a destination for Australian footballers in recent history, with ex-Socceroos captain Mark Milligan, forward Jamie Maclaren and midfielder Jackson Irvine having played there recently.

Scottish-born winger Martin Boyle was one of their biggest stars until a move to Saudi Arabia in January.
