Besides a considerable dip in productivity levels for two-and-a-bit weeks, the lasting legacy of any Olympics is the sports infrastructure left behind — and the newly (if sometimes briefly) motivated populace.
Thanks in part to London 2012, our city is home to world-class facilities in swimming, athletics, sailing and more, with most centres open to us medal-less commoners when the pros are otherwise engaged.
