The final day of the 2024 Olympic Games has now concluded. It has been a rollercoaster fortnight in Paris and there was still plenty of drama to be had on Sunday as Team GB picked up some final medals.
The women’s marathon kicked off today’s action before Great Britain‘s Emily Campbell took bronze in the weightlifting to add to her silver medal in Tokyo. Kerenza Bryson finished in ninth in the women’s modern pentathlon after Kate French was forced to withdraw.
In the cycling, Emma Finucane won her bronze match for a third medal in Paris and British team-mate Jack Carlin crashed out in the men’s keirin final, while the USA topped the final medal table ahead of China after claiming a dramatic last gold in the women’s basketball final. GB ended up with one more medal than they managed in Tokyo three years ago, but claimed eight fewer golds.
