Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has backed the Gunners to make a return to the Champions League by the end of the season, claiming it will be an "interesting year" for the club. The Frenchman held plenty of praise for what he calls "his Gooners" years after leaving the Emirates.
The 35-year-old became a fan favourite at Arsenal, going on to make 253 appearances across all competitions with 105 goals scored and 41 assists. It leaves the north London club as his most prolific in his career, with rivals Chelsea second after making the switch to them.
With the Gunners, Giroud was a regular in the Champions League too, making 29 appearances in the competition with 12 goals and six assists. The furthest he ever managed with the red side of London was a last-16 appearance on multiple occasions, falling at this hurdle year after year.
