Raging Olivier Giroud was left fuming by France boss Didier Deschamps after being hooked before half-time in the World Cup final
The AC Milan forward has been vital during the tournament for Les Bleus netting four goals so far, but made little impact on the showpiece final. Ousmane Dembele clipped Angel Di Maria in the box which allowed Lionel Messi to open the scoring from the penalty spot in Qatar, before the Juventus star rounded off a sweeping counter attack to get on the scoresheet to hand the South American side a 2-0 advantage going into the break.
France boss Didier Deschamps looked to change things before the break by replacing Giroud and Dembele with Marcus Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani. However, France's all-time leading goalscorer was seen fuming after he was hooked by the boss as he walked towards his seat, throwing a bottle of water to the ground.
He then appeared to kick the seat as approached his place next to Dembele before shouting something from the technical area. Pundit Alan Shearer was quick to defend the striker stating on the BBC: "It's totally understandable. He's angry with his teams' performance and how he has played.
"Its very difficult for him to press because he can't do that a lot of the time. Kylian Mbappe won't do a lot of the time, and that has been the problem."
