Oliver Glasner makes admission over Crystal Palace's draw with Man City as target is set

Oliver Glasner has praised Crystal Palace’s performance in their 2-2 draw with Manchester City but admitted they can still play better.

The Eagles followed up their second league victory of the season, against Ipswich Town in midweek, with a deserved point at Selhurst Park as they consigned City to more misery in the Premier League.

Daniel Munoz gave the Eagles a fourth-minute lead, and Maxence Lacroix scored his first goal for Palace in the second half, but City twice fought back to draw. The visitors were reduced to 10 men late on when Rico Lewis, who scored their second of the afternoon, was adjudged to have fouled Trevoh Chalobah and picked up a second yellow card.

“We don’t feel unlucky, but yes it was a good performance,” said Glasner. “We can do better – I see them in training. Many, many positive things today.

“It feels like it could have been a little bit more, having [taken] the lead twice and then being a bit passive. But, overall, it’s a great week for us, being unbeaten.

“It was a good performance — I don’t want to be too critical — but if we had performed at our best level, we should have won the game.”

The Palace manager continued: “The performances in many games were okay and we played quite well. We have some issues that we know. Even when we lost, we created enough chances to score goals to win.”

Palace’s draw moved them up to 16th in the Premier League table, and Glasner insisted success will only come if they remain unsatisfied by the level they are currently at.

“We are in the bottom half of the table, and this is not where we want to be. So it’s still: keep going, working hard, try to improve and be open and be not satisfied. We stay hungry, stay ambitious, and then we go in the right direction.”
