Not that he is in any danger of doing it, as he would readily admit himself, but even supposing Oli McBurnie ended the season as the English Premier League’s top scorer, he may still have had trouble forcing his way back into the Scotland squad if Steve Clarke remained in charge.
As it is, while he may not be the most prolific of goalscorers, McBurnie has shown more than enough even in these early stages of Hull City’s first season back in the big time to suggest he has plenty to offer the national side. And Sebastien Pocognoli clearly agrees.
