Pensioners should be taxed more to address rising costs of ageing population, Burnham told

Andy Burnham should hike taxes on pensioners to bolster Britain’s public finances, an influential policy think tank has said.

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) has urged the prime minister to extend national insurance to older earners, including by applying the 2 per cent NI surcharge to pensioners.
