Old Edinburgh building transformed into plush new hotel after £1million makeover

A historic Edinburgh building has reopened as an independent hotel following a huge renovation.

The Bruntsfield has opened its doors to both locals and tourists after the site was taken over by a new investor in May of last year.

Previously used as a hotel, the building had been run by Best Western, however the new takeover have allowed a huge refurbishment to be completed.

Located on the corner of Bruntsfied Place just across from the popular Bruntsfield Links, each of the 72 rooms have been given a makeover, as well as the communal areas.

Originally three large homes built in the 1800s, the Bruntsfield is also now playing host to The Neighbourhood bar and restaurant, which opened towards the end of 2021.

Now a completely independent hotel, staff told The Boutique Hotelier they cannot wait to bring guests back into their new venue.

Alistair Bruce, General Manager commented: “Guests will feel as though they are being welcomed into our home when they arrive at The Bruntsfield.

“Our extensive refurbishment is inspired by our heritage and our neighbourhood, located in the centre of Bruntsfield itself, with a truly Scottish feel and is perfectly located for both leisure and business breaks in the city.”

Alex Pritchard, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Axiom Hospitality added: “After the past two years, we’ve noticed guests wanting to explore more than ever before.

“Therefore, we’re delighted to be able to launch The Bruntsfield at this time, providing travellers with a homely base to discover the city of Edinburgh, along with personalised and friendly service.”
