Oklahoma State Followed Up Their Biggest Win of the Year With an Absolute Dud

Last week, No. 15 Oklahoma State left it all on the field against archrival No. 17 Oklahoma.

With the Sooners set to depart the Big 12 and join the SEC next year, this year's Bedlam was the last one scheduled, with the winner holding bragging rights for the foreseeable future.

The Cowboys pulled off the upset, taking down the Sooners 27–24 in an instant classic.

Unfortunately for Oklahoma State, there was another game to play this week—a road trip to UCF. After such a monumental win against the Sooners, the Cowboys were trounced by the Knights, losing 45–3.

UCF football dominated Oklahoma State 45–3, just a week after the Cowboys’ upset of Oklahoma in Bedlam.

The UCF offense was unstoppable, putting up 592 yards including 206 rushing yards and three touchdowns from running back RJ Harvey. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon III, who entered the week as the nation's leading rusher and was coming off a 136-yard game against Oklahoma, was held to just 25 yards on 12 carries.

This was an absolute dismantling.

After the game, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy shouldered the blame for the loss.

“They outcoached us,” Gundy said, per ESPN. “They made the plays and we didn’t. They did a really good job at coaching. They are good with what they do on offense. And then we couldn’t capitalize offensively in certain situations and it snowballed into what ended up happening.”

Oklahoma State will have to figure out a way to reset as they look to close out the season with games against Houston and BYU.
