During Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti’s exit interview on Monday, he noted that he thinks the LA Clippers will win an NBA championship in the near future. Which is an interesting prediction to share as the Thunder owns the Clippers’ first-round picks in 2022, 2024 and 2026 and also owns the swaps for their first-round picks in 2023 and 2025.
Presti said that the 12th-best lottery odds will probably be as good as it gets in terms of the Clippers’ draft picks the team owns due to this. Presti praised the Clippers’ deep roster and star duo in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George:
“I think the Clippers have probably the best roster in basketball and probably will win a title maybe multiple times in the next couple years. They’re really, really good, but they’re playing without a lot of their weapons. They still have a lot of veteran role players that are really, really good players, enough to keep them in the conversation, but those two guys are all-world.”
