The Liberia-flagged tanker Shenlong Suezmax docked at Mumbai’s Jawahar Dweep terminal on Wednesday, March 11, after completing a risky voyage that relied largely on traditional navigation methods. The ship delivered 1,35,335 metric tonnes of crude oil from Saudi Arabia at the Butcher Island terminal around 6:06 pm.
Its arrival marks the first successful crude oil delivery to India through the Strait of Hormuz since tensions escalated following the US-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28. The strategic waterway, through which nearly one-fifth of the world’s crude oil passes, has effectively turned into a conflict zone.
