An Ohio woman was rescued from a fully engulfed home in flames in a dramatic incident captured on body camera video. The fire occurred on Oct. 23 in the 7700 block of Branch Road in York Township, Medina County.
Following a 911 call reporting the trapped 31-year-old woman, deputies and fire officials rushed to her aid. The video shared on the sheriff's office Facebook page shows the intense moments as rescuers tried to reach the woman.
With smoke billowing out of the basement window, rescuers used a mallet to break the window and called out to the woman to guide her to safety. They managed to hoist her out with the help of a firefighter who crawled in backwards and a group of people passing down a rope.
Despite the woman's plea to save her dog inside, rescuers had to retreat as the flames consumed the building. The woman was taken to the hospital and later released, while sadly, at least two dogs perished in the fire.
Four sheriff's office personnel and two fire officials were also treated for smoke inhalation and minor injuries. The Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
A statement commended the dispatchers, law enforcement, and fire personnel for their crucial roles in saving the woman from a perilous situation.
