The Ohio State women’s basketball team has clinched at least a share of the Big Ten title thanks to a 79-66 win over Maryland at home on Sunday.
It was more of what we’ve seen from the Buckeyes this season with a pressure defense that forced 15 Maryland turnovers enroute to equalizing the possessions and high-quality shots. OSU shot 50% from the field to the Terrapins 41.4%.
Ohio State led almost the entire game, notching a 21-13 lead at the end of the first half and a 44-31 lead at the half. The Buckeyes led by as many as 15 points. The Terrapins made a game of it in the second half, eventually closing to within five points in the fourth quarter, but the Buckeyes continued to make plays on both sides of the court to pull ahead and salt the game away.
All five starters finished in double figures for Ohio State. Celeste Taylor led the way with 20 points followed by Jacy Sheldon (17), Cotie McMahon (15), Rebeka Mikulasikova (11), and Taylor Thierry (10).
There are still two regular season games left, but with Ohio State holding a two-game lead over second-place Iowa and Indiana, it’ll be able to raise a banner when the time is right. The win now improves OSU’s overall record to 24-3 and its conference mark to an astounding 15-1 in one of the best conferences in the country.

The stage is now set for the chance to win the conference outright when Ohio State hosts Michigan on Wednesday, the only program to beat the Buckeyes in the conference this year.
Game on.
