There comes a time in every athlete’s life when they have to decide to hang up the cleats. No one can outrun father time, but we all hope that we can leave the game we love on our own terms. Unfortunately, injuries are part of any sport, and sometimes a player has to say goodbye far too soon.
Thus the case for Ohio State running Marcus Crowley. A backup running back for his entire career in scarlet and gray, Crowley could never stay healthy enough to challenge for significant playing time. When he was able to stay injury-free, there were moments when we thought he might be the next breakout back at OSU.
Crowley suffered a season-ending injury last October, and with each injury comes the long road to recovery, and each athlete must evaluate the long-term effects it has on overall health and quality of life. After taking all things into consideration, Crowley has decided to medically retire from the game he loves.

The details of Crowley’s injury have not yet been released. It has been reported that the former running back will remain on scholarship and finish his degree at Ohio State.
We hate to see a young man’s career end this way, but we wish Marcus Crowley nothing but the best. Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye.
