The Ohio State football program has been among the top in the country for a decade, having won the inaugural College Football Playoff in 2014. This roster is different though, and it might be the best yet.
It is almost certainly Ryan Day’s best accumulation of talent in Columbus. At least one NFL scout believes this might be the best accumulation of talent they have ever seen.
As for 247Sports most recent Team Talent Composite, the Buckeyes rank third, behind the likes of Alabama and Georgia. The latter of which isn’t overly shocking; however, the former should bring some questions.
Here’s the listing that the site posted.
The Buckeyes have 14 five-star players and 55 four-star players. The rationale for ranking Alabama at No. 1 has to do with the fact that it has an eye-popping 17 five-star talents on its roster.
Now, that’s not to say that the it will be better though.

The Crimson Tide came in at No. 5 in the AP Poll while the Buckeyes sit No. 2 and the Bulldogs No. 1. Some of Ohio State’s talent was found in the transfer portal as it was able to bring in Alabama’s Caleb Downs and Ole Miss’ Quinshon Judkins.
Those developed players, while set to play a large role, might not bring the same amount of allure from the 247Sports rankings. Nonetheless, the Buckeyes have the talent, and they are arguably the best top-to-bottom roster in college football.
