Welcome to halftime of the Ohio State football game, where the Buckeyes are plodding through a death-by-papercut victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Ohio State is only leading Minnesota, 13-0, and that may be disappointing, but with the Michigan Wolverines on deck that might be the best we can expect.
With the Buckeyes coming into this game as close to a four-touchdown favorite, only being up by a baker’s dozen is a bit of a disappointment, but again with Michigan on deck, the look-ahead spot is alive and well.
The only reason I keep bringing that up is the fact that we saw the Wolverines almost take a loss earlier this Saturday against Maryland.
Ray Day not bringing his A game

Maybe Ryan Day is saving the good stuff for Michigan, but I am not the only one not impressed with the play calling on offense. It might be a workmanlike win and move on to bigger things.
Minnesota has no interest in winning

The Golden Gophers are playing as conservatively as Indiana was earlier this year, which is fine to slow the game down, but not ideal to win.
Jack Sawyer has been elite
I don’t know if the Bengals are gonna be in the market for Jack Sawyer based on where he’d go in the draft, but goodness would he be a fun fit on this defense.

The rise of Jack Sawyer this season has been an awesome theme and he is continuing his elite play today with four total tackles already and 2.5 behind behind the line of scrimmage.
Good bye Gene
Enterally grateful for this special place. Words can’t describe what Ohio Stadium means to me. pic.twitter.com/k2d8WqFkCO

This is the last home game where Gene Smith will be the athletic director and Buckeye Nation will miss him.
Hot start slow ending
8 plays, 85 yards, 4:02 drive for Ohio State on that opening series.
Pretty much as close to perfect as you can get.

My hopes were high when watching that first drive, but it is a good sign that this team was able to move the ball on the first drive for the second straight week.
