Ohio State football is actively trying to flip Minnesota safety commit

As the 2024 recruiting cycle has played itself out, Ohio State Football missed on a few key prospects, specifically at the safety position.

Some of the Buckeyes top targets opted elsewhere, so the writing was on the wall that to fill the need, a flip was going to have to happen. On Monday evening, that ball started rolling: The Buckeyes offered Minnesota safety commit,Koi Perich.

An offer for Buckeyes fans

The 6-foot, 1-inch, 195-pound member of the secondary has been committed to the Gophers since mid-April, but the Ohio State offer has him reconsidering his options. 247Sports Bill Kurelic is reporting (subscription required) that Perich will visit Ohio State, but not for a game due to his high school football schedule.

This offer reminds me of a current Buckeye’s recruitment, quarterback Lincoln Kienholz. Both players prepped in the same region, both of them being exceptional athletes, although they play different positions. Perich is ranked as the No. 11 safety and 142nd overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports composite.
