Ohio State didn’t impress David Sanders Jr. enough to earn signing

It was down to two for five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr.

He had the Ohio State Buckeyes and Tennessee Volunteers in his sights, and after a late-season visit for the Buckeyes top-ten battle with the Indiana Hoosiers, he chose the latter.

Sanders signed with the Volunteers on National Signing Day, making official his decision to join Tennessee. Sanders had committed to Tennessee back in August but visited Ohio State in November. After that visit, his decision was cemented.

Sanders is widely ranked as the best offensive lineman in the Class of 2025.  Here’s why he opted to go visit “The Shoe” before ultimately committing elsewhere.

“I felt it was only right to give them one more shot just to make sure I had made my decision and this was firm on where I wanted to be,” Sanders told Knoxville News Sentinel’s Mike Wilson.

With top-five recruits Devin Sanchez and Tavien St. Clair coming to Columbus next season, this roster is still going to be loaded, but having Sanders in the mix as well would’ve taken it to the next level.

Expect quite a bit more change up if Ryan Day is outed as the team’s head coach following the College Football Playoff.
