Ohio Stadium is getting a facelift as the new field turf installation has begun. The turf was last replaced prior to the 2014 season. A decision to replace the aging turf was made after players began losing their footing early last season. Fans also noted the fading scarlet resembling a shade of pink while watching on TV.
Fans were given the opportunity to submit designs for the new field and some of those designs… well, let’s just say fans are creative. Ultimately though, Ohio State chose to go a more traditional route with a few minor tweaks.
The biggest changes fans will see are the font used in the endzones, some striping at the goal posts, and two Buckeye leaves at each 35-yard line. Regardless of whether you love the new look or wish the OSU brass would’ve done more, The ‘Shoe will have a fresh look come fall.
