Ohio State advances in top group for 2024 Georgia athlete

Anytime a top high school wide receiver gets an Ohio State offer, you know they can play the position. Offensive coordinator Brian Hartline’s track record is enough for those players to understand there’s a pipeline from Columbus to the NFL.

The Buckeyes can’t take all of the receivers, so when one is also an athlete who can play a different position, it makes that recruit even more tantalizing. Receiver skills in the secondary is a good quality, and that’s what Georgia’s Demello Jones offers.

At 6 feet, 1 inch and 176 pounds, Jones played wide receiver, quarterback and cornerback for his Swainsboro High School team this past fall. It’s impressive. The good news for Ohio State is it has made it past another cut in Jones’ recruiting list, making his top 10.

There is still a ways to go in Jones recruitment, but getting to this point is a good sign. He is ranked as the No. 23 athlete and 194th overall prospect according to the 247Sports composite.
