An Ohio man got unusually lucky after winning two prizes on the same day while playing scratch-off tickets. The Toledo resident, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased tickets from the same convenience store and walked away with significant winnings, according to the POPLE.
First Win Brings Major Prize
His first scratch-off ticket revealed a prize of $40,000 annually for 25 years, totaling $1 million. He opted for the lump sum payout of $500,000 and received $366,250 after taxes.
Second Ticket Adds to the Windfall
Still surprised by his initial win, the man bought another ticket the same day, which earned him an additional $25,000. After taxes, this added $18,312.50 to his total winnings.
Store Staff React to the Surprise
The winning ticket was purchased at Mike’s Corner Store in Toledo, where employees were stunned by the back-to-back wins.
“We found out that somebody hit the big prize,” Stephanie Krampton said. “I didn’t know it was right in a row at first. We ended up finding that out a little bit later.”
“It’s amazing. It’s a life-changing win, and I couldn’t be happier,” she added. “It’s a win for everybody. It’s a win for the community too because now, look, it does happen here. It does happen in Toledo.”
Plans for the Winnings
The winner plans to use the money for an extended vacation, purchase a new vehicle, and share a portion with his children. The remaining amount will be saved.
