Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine has expressed his intention to carefully consider the qualities he is seeking in the individual who will fill Sen. JD Vance's seat. While he has a shortlist of potential candidates in mind, DeWine has chosen to withhold the names until after the upcoming November election.
Vance, who has been selected as former President Donald Trump's running mate, recently accepted the nomination at the Republican National Convention. However, should Trump emerge victorious in the presidential race, Vance will be required to vacate his Senate position.
