Oh this Olivia Nuzzi nonsense took a turn

Olivia Nuzzi’s current controversy just took a wild turn. The disgraced political journalist has been the subject of multiple glossy magazine profiles this week. But, intrepid Internet sleuths have discovered her failed pop single. Nuzzi recorded a song called “Jailbait” back when she was 16 years old.

In a different era of the Internet, the reporter performed under the name “Livvy” and now people are wondering what to do with this information. The 2010 single is standard fare for that era. (Basically, it sounds like Ke$ha castoffs from the era or someone got obsessed with recession-period Britney.)

Upbeat pop music with just a single Mio squirt of EDM flavor introduced to the mix. All credit to @wkbdyb for somehow tracking down the audio.

Someone found an mp3 of the creepy "Jailbait" song Olivia Nuzzi released when she was 16 ?

But, as we have all learned by now, the Internet is forever. Once news of “Jailbait” hit the web, those keyboards began working overtime. Now, social media knows even more about Olivia Nuzzi than they wanted to in the first place. That’s an impressive feat when you consider the fact that she’s a topic of conversation because of her entanglement with Robert F. Kennedy

16-year-old songwriters make some interesting decisions when they’re trying to find their footing as artists. But, “Jailbait” is a track that probably makes Nuzzi wish she could take a pouch of Thermite and get rid of it. But, the Internet is eternal and everyone has an opinion on the sound and performance of this confusing pop track.

Who is Olivia Nuzzi?

In short, the New York Magazine writer that had an affair with Robert F Kennedy Jr. The long way around, she’s a political journalist and magazine writer who writes a lot of profiles focusing on “important figures.” When the affair with RFK was revealed, social media users debated the ethical implications of potentially sleeping with a subject. For better and worse, all that attention did was catapult Nuzzi to a job at Vanity Fair and these current plush profiles in other magazines.

After the recent spate of profiles, fellow journalist Ryan Lizza accused Nuzzi of other political affairs. His newsletter argues that the writer slept with South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford. Over the course of her career, nuzzi has garnered a reputation for getting close to people in power. She covered President Donald Trump closely during the lead up to and first year of his election in 2016.

Nuzzi also profiled President Trump after the assassination attempt on his life in 2024. Due to the power structures on the Beltway, she became an influential figure in journalism circles because of her ability to take readers inside the inner circle of these otherwise closely guarded subjects.

Jailbait by Livvy is….real, unfortunately

When Nuzzi was 16 years old, this bewildering single made its way to the airwaves. We don’t know who produced this. But, it has all the hallmarks of a mid tempo pop dance song from 2010. You can listen to part of the track up top.

Intrepid Myspace archaeologists have also retrieved her bio and more information. (Thank you for your service Liz.) The Pop Just blog also retrieved images and parts of this press release about “Jailbait.”

It reads: “Jailbait is about the role of the underage, hyper sexualized girl in society. That girl who takes half naked photos of herself in the mirror with her camera phone. It’s about pornographic ideals infiltrating our collective consciousness – this obsession with youth and beauty. I’m not saying that any of this is wrong, i’m simply saying that it is. This song is me coming to a societal realization.”
