SAMBALPUR: The Veer Surendra Sai Institute Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar), Burla, will conduct MBBS and MD examinations on its own from the next academic session.
In a recent letter, the controller of examinations of Sambalpur University has advised Vimsar director to conduct the MBBS and MD examinations as it has been declared an independent institute (in 2014) and is no longer affiliated to the varsity.
Vimsar director Lalit Meher said, "Sambalpur University has already sent us the letter. We will have to engage some doctors to conduct the exams. Since we don't have experience in holding such exams, we might face some problems. But in the long run, it will be beneficial."
Vimsar has 1,000 MBBS and around 300 PG students. Students have welcomed the development.
