Odin Thiago Holm could be set for a move to Celtic with the club reportedly in talks with Valerenga.
The Hoops have made a bid for the 20-year-old midfielder, according to Nettavisen Sport. Holm has two caps for Norway, but hasn't been included in Sale Solbakken’s squad for their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Scotland and Cyprus. He’s made 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Valerenga, who play through the summer. Should he make the switch to Celtic, then he'd arrive in peak condition ready for pre-season under whoever the new manager will be.
Holm was subject of interest from Danes FC Copenhagen last winter. They tried to sign him for a fee of £2.2million. It is claimed that Celtic have offered £2.5million for Holm, but their offer includes a bigger sell-on fee due to Valerenga should Holm develop to the point that he’s sold on for big money elsewhere.
Links to top Norwegian talent will fuel speculation that Kjetil Knutsen could be coming in. The Bodo/Glimt manager has bested the Hoops before in Europe, and is now gettable after talks to take over at Dutch giants Ajax broke down. However, Brendan Rodgers is the favourite to return to the Premiership champions after holding talks with club chiefs over the weekend.
