Odell Beckham Jr puts three NFL teams on red alert by announcing fresh comeback attempt

Odell Beckham Jr is putting himself back in the shop window as he targets a swift return to the NFL, putting the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and New York Giants on red alert.

Beckham Jr didn't feature at all during the 2022 season due to a torn ACL sustained in the Super Bowl the previous campaign. The wide receiver was released by the Los Angeles Rams as a result, and has remained a free agent.

Visits did take place with other teams last season, as Beckham Jr held talks with a number of teams including the Cowboys, Bills and Giants. Due to his injury these visits ended with no joy, but he is now taking part in an open workout on Friday as he looks to partner up with a franchise.

Beckham Jr's workout will take place in Arizona, and allow teams to take a peek at what he can still offer before deciding if he's worth a contract. The Super Bowl winner has displayed his quality multiple times in the past, but his future ability is unknown following another lengthy injury absence.

It was the second time Beckham Jr has torn an ACL in his NFL career, but he's still expected to be one of the top talents in the wide receiver free agency pool this off-season. Beckham Jr was a first round pick back in the 2014 NFL draft, and the Giants are one of the teams heavily linked to bring him back.

After recovering from his first injury setback, Beckham Jr was in fine form for the Rams as he helped them on their route to the Super Bowl in 2021. The receiver even scored a touchdown in their 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but tore his ACL during the contest.

Beckham Jr also held positive talks with the Cowboys and the Bills last season, but doubts over his fitness were thought to be the reason that both teams passed at the time. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was extremely interested last year, and with the franchise looking for options in his position, could easily take another look.

Jones said before meeting with Beckham Jr last season: "Odell is someone that we have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor. I know the Cowboys star on that helmet, when he puts it on, could look pretty good."

Beckham Jr was also seen attending a Dallas Mavericks NBA game alongside Cowboys stars Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs at the time, but soon left the region. It may be a gamble taking on Beckham Jr, but as the Rams found out in 2021, it can be worth the risk.
