Free agent Odell Beckham Jr is yet to sign for a new NFL team, and he's teasing fans with his mysterious Twitter updates.
Beckham Jr has been a free agent since leaving the Los Angeles Rams at the end of last season, but an ACL he sustained in their Super Bowl win against Cincinnati Bengals has kept interested sides away for now. He's on the road to recovery, and has held talks with a number of teams, including the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
Fans are desperate for Beckham Jr to join their respected sides, with the wide receiver not only a popular figure, but also a great asset. And his Twitter updates are keeping fans on the edge of their seats, as they could be interpreted in a number of ways.
Beckham Jr fired out a series of tweets on Friday afternoon, with fans not knowing what to think. The first post read: "All weapons formed against me gotta chance…"
It was followed by: "God got something bigger planned…" He then fired out two more, which read: "I promise we gon get our lixk back… Grateful for what I have though.
"From here until it’s time…. Every step is calculated and no wasted motions… is it what it is," he concluded. Beckham Jr has had a whole host of teams interested, with his the Giants, Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and even his former side in Los Angeles all said to be in talks.
But it seems as though the Giants and the Cowboys are at the front of the queue, with Beckham Jr spending considerably time at each facility. Beckham Jr was seen attending a Dallas Mavericks NBA game with Cowboys stars Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has also been teasing fans, as he's changed his tone over a potential deal on many occasions. Jones initially said that a deal would be difficult due to his injury record, but later said an agreement could 'break' at any time.
"I don't want to talk about that but stand by," Jones said at the latest NFL owners meeting this week when asked about Beckham Jr. "This thing could break."
But that was after Jones seemed to suggest that his injury was too much of a risk, as he previously said: "Just this one is very obvious and very pointed toward his injury that occurred last year in the Super Bowl. We got a good bead on that. We got a great read on his career. It’s not like a draft pick coming at you."
However, Jones was vocal about his meetings with Beckham Jr, and his fondness for the star looked positive to begin with. "We had pretty extensive meetings. We spent quite a bit of time together," Jones said.
"I enjoyed every minute of it. We’ll get back together and see where we go from here. (There's) a lot of variables. It has to fit for both parties. This is like getting married. You’re not getting together to have issues after you get together."
