Leading bookmaker Coral has cut the odds to 6-4 (from 5-2) for snow to fall on Valentine's Day this year in the UK. Coral has also trimmed the odds on this Valentine's Day being the coldest on record in the UK to 2-1 (from 9-4).
"With the threat of a Beast from the East on the horizon, we have cut the odds on snow falling on Valentine's Day this year," said Coral's John Hill. "Love may be in the air in many places, but there could also be a chill. Those heading out for dinner in the evening may need to add an extra layer," added Hill.
The Met Office is currently forecasting mild weather with wind and rain for much of the country over the weeks ahead, but says things could suddenly get much colder at the start of March.
The forecast from February 27 reads: "A period of colder or much colder temperatures remains a small possibility and could bring spells of wintry weather."
