Octopus energy are handing out free electric blankets in their latest move to help the most vulnerable this winter.
The energy giant launched its first electric blankets scheme last winter to help customers save energy and money as it gave away 7,000 free electric blankets to customers who needed them most. This year, the energy firm have have purchased another 10,000 energy efficient electric blankets which are being offered to vulnerable households.
The new scheme, which was launched in January 2022, is one of several measures the company set up since the start of the crisis to support customers who were worried about heating costs and at risk of becoming cold. While heating a whole home costs around £4 a day, an energy-efficient electric blanket can heat a person for just 2-4p an hour.
