Oasis reportedly dispute auction of rare concert master recordings

  • Oasis are reportedly opposing a planned auction featuring 63 concert master recordings and over 100 hours of rehearsal audio captured by their former sound engineer between 1994 and 2001.
  • The archive, compiled by Huw Richards, carries a guide price of between £1.2m and £1.6m and is set to be auctioned by Littleton Auctions on 3 October.
  • Included in the collection is candid dialogue between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, alongside what is believed to be the only existing recording of the band's 1996 Loch Lomond performance.
  • Owain Richards, the son of the former sound engineer, indicated that Oasis's management previously entered talks to retrieve the tapes and want the material back in their own possession.
  • Littleton Auctions confirmed the band's concerns but maintained the sale is legal, noting that any buyer cannot commercialise the recordings without consent as Oasis hold the intellectual property rights.
