An OAP that's been left 'isolated and vulnerable' is one of the last people standing on a run down rat infested estate, as he refuses to vacate the property until he receives more money for his home. Phill Campbell, 70, moved into his home on Union Street in St Helens 16 years ago with the intention to spend the rest of his days there.
However, the elderly man has now been abandoned in the derelict street, living among vermin ''in the middle of demolition site'' with just one neighbour left, the Liverpool Echo reports. Phill's house on Union Street comes under Gerard's Bridge estate where housing association, Torus wants to destroy 61 homes due to concerns regarding their ''future sustainability'' and ''wider environmental issues.''
All other tenants on the street have now been rehoused except for Phill and his neighbour who own their homes and are demanding that Torus reach an agreement with them to buy them out. Phill told the ECHO: "They first approached me about three years ago now.
