A popular late-night attraction at Wales’ biggest theme park is back with a bang for the first time in three years after it was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Oakwood is bringing back it’s After Dark event in August, which will feature fireworks, live music and a huge outdoor paint party, which leaves guests splattered from head to toe in bright UV paint. There’s also the return of late-night riding, meaning people can have a go on rides including Speed and Bounce while looking out over the rest of the lit-up park.
Other popular attractions such as Snake River Falls and Skull Rock will also be open in the dark, giving a new dimension to the water-based rides, while those wanting to keep their feet dry and firmly on the floor can instead enjoy live DJ sets and fireworks and light displays. Oakwood, like all tourist attractions, was hit hard during the coronavirus outbreak. It had to close for long periods and eventually re-open with a raft of restrictions which limited capacity and altered the overall visitor experience. Now that the theme park is back operating as normal, staff have said they are delighted to welcome people back to enjoy Oakwood in the dark for the first time since 2019. Freya Knibb, marketing manager at Oakwood, said: “We are delighted to see the return of our After Dark event.
"Whether you’re a thrill seeker or someone who wants to soak up views of the fantastic Pembrokeshire countryside, we have something for everyone, and it is really special to see the park lit up at night. We’re grateful for our fantastic team, who work tirelessly to ensure our After Dark events are a success and can’t wait to welcome guests back to the special late-night openings and entertainment like no other.”
Oakwood itself is open every day in August except Tuesdays. The After Dark experience will run every Wednesday, Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday throughout the month until 10pm. Tickets for After Dark are available online and are included when purchasing a day ticket.
