O. Panneerselvam asks Tamil Nadu government to observe birth centenary of Mookiah Thevar

AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam on Sunday urged the DMK government to observe the birth centenary of late leader P.K. Mookiah Thevar as a State function and to name a school at his native place after him.

Mr. Panneerselam, in a statement, requested the State government on behalf of the AIADMK to name the State-run school for Kallar students in Pappapatti after the late leader. The birth centenary of the former legislator is set to commence on April 4.

The late Mookiah Thevar was elected to the State Legislative Assembly in the first election from Periyakulam and later from Usilampatti in 1957, 1962, 1967, 1971 and 1977 Assembly elections as a Forward Bloc candidate.
