O’Neil’s Boxing Club fighter Jacob Naismith took gold at the GB Three Nations tournament in Dundee earlier this month.
In front of his proud family, 13-year-old Jacob claimed victory on points over England’s number one 46kg schoolboy champion Finny Baker Chambers, from the world famous Repton Club in London, to win his semi-final.
And on the Sunday, the Cambuslang club’s young star pulled off another fantastic display of boxing against Welsh number one Ashton Fox Price to take victory in every round, sealing a points win and the gold medal.
The youngster was cheered on to glory by dad Ross, mum Leanne and little sister Daisey.
His dad Ross, who is also Jacob’s coach at O’Neil’s Boxing Club, said: “We are all very proud of Jacob at the club.
“He works hard and is a great listener.
“He practices what he’s shown by myself and the other coaches and really takes it on board.”
O’Neil’s coach Brian Murphy Jnr added: “Jacob is a joy to work with and is popular with the other boxers.
“He’s a little gentleman and you couldn’t meet a nicer boy.
“He boxed brilliantly against a tough opponent.”
Jacob is also currently Western District and Scottish Champion in his category.
