New York City police have provided a detailed description of the shooter involved in a recent incident, along with the route he took while fleeing the scene. According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, the shooter is described as a light-skinned male wearing a light brown or cream colored jacket, a black face mask, black-and-white sneakers, and a distinctive gray backpack.
Based on video footage, it was observed that the gunman approached the victim from behind and shot him in the back. The shooter then proceeded to walk towards the victim and continued firing. Chief Kenny mentioned that there was a moment when the gun malfunctioned, but the shooter managed to clear the jam and resume firing.
After the incident, the shooter fled into an alleyway located between West 54th Street and West 55th Street. He was then seen walking westbound on Avenue of the Americas before getting onto an electric e-Citi bike. The shooter rode northbound on Avenue of the Americas towards Central Park, where he was spotted entering the park at Center Drive at 6:48 a.m.
Upon investigating the scene, authorities found three live 9mm rounds and three discharged 9mm shell casings. The NYPD is actively seeking information from the public to help identify and locate the shooter.
