NY Sugar Prices Recover on Smaller Brazil Sugar Output

March NY world sugar #11 (SBH25) today is up +0.13 (+0.61%), and December London ICE white sugar #5 (SWZ24) is down -7.60 (-1.38%).

Sugar prices today recovered from early losses and are trading mixed.  Short covering emerged in sugar futures today after Unica reported sugar output in Brazil's Center-South region during the second half of October fell -24.3% y/y to 1.785 MMT.  However, the cumulative 2024/25 Center-South sugar output through October rose +0.3% y/y to 37 MMT.  Sugar prices today initially moved lower after the dollar index (DXY00) rallied to a 4-1/4 month high.
