NY Sugar Posts Moderate Gains as Brazil's Sugar Production Declines

March NY world sugar #11 (SBH25) Friday closed up +0.11 (+0.57%), and March London ICE white sugar #5 (SWH25) closed down -9.90 (-1.91%).

Sugar prices Friday settled mixed.  NY sugar rose moderately Friday as short covering emerged when Unica reported that cumulative 2024/25 Center-South sugar output through mid-December is down -5.1% y/y to 39.711 MMT.  Unica said only 129 sugar mills were operating in Brazil in the first half of December compared with 185 mills in the same period last year.
