Nurse transforms body and sheds 7 stone after bursting out of hazmat suit during shift

A nurse motivated herself to lose seven stone after literally bursting out of a hazmat suit at work.

At 17 stone and size 22, intensive care nurse Sarah Wynter struggled to make it through 12-hour shifts.

The mum-of-two said: “My body ached all over from being on my feet all day.

“I had severe joint pain and I’d be breathless.”

But the turning point for Sarah, 40, came after a box of protective hazmat suits was delivered to her ward.

She said: “The box was marked ‘one size’, which worried me.

“I did manage to get the suit on but the first time I bent over it ripped from my neck to my bottom.

“I laughed it off with everyone else in the room but inside I was mortified.” Sarah, of Hereford, turned to Slimming World to begin her weight-loss journey.

She said: “After a lifetime of restrictive diets, I couldn’t believe that I’d be able to lose weight without going hungry.

“I always thought I needed to snack on sugary treats to keep my energy levels up.

“I soon found that filling up on healthy meals kept me well fuelled throughout the work day though – and I started to feel in control of my eating habits, even during the more stressful shifts.”

After a few months Sarah, who lives with farmer husband John and their teenage children Alfie and Maisey, realised she was losing weight steadily.

She now enjoys long walks in the Brecon Beacons and is even thinking of climbing Kilimanjaro for charity.

She said of her new 10st body: “I’m the best version of myself for my patients – and for me and my family too.”
