Nurse left homeless wins landmark case after estate agents refused to rent to her because of kids

A nurse who was left homeless has won a landmark rental case after agents and landlords refused to rent to her because she has children. On Christmas Eve, Lexi Levens and her family were handed a Section 21 no-fault eviction.

The 33-year-old neonatal nurse and her husband passed affordability checks but the pair were left shocked when they discovered no landlords or agents would rent to a family with four children. With no other options, they were forced to register with the council as homeless.

NHS worker Lexi said the discrimination her family faced was “nothing short of distressing and humiliating”, the Mirror reports. Lexi said: "The fact kids could be discriminated against is abhorrent and should never have been able to happen."
