Nuno Tavares' new role, Flo Balogun scores again, Ejeheri game suspended: Arsenal loan round up

Arsenal's positive start to the season continued over the weekend as they were able to secure a thrilling 4-2 victory over Leicester. New signing Gabriel Jesus introduced himself to the Emirates Stadium with a man of the match display including two goals as well as the assists for Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli 's strikes.

The result means that the Gunners now find themselves one of just two teams in the Premier League left with a 100% record, alongside Manchester City who currently sit higher in the Premier League due to their superior goal difference.

While it may have been an upbeat weekend for Mikel Arteta 's side, the club's loan army of 16 players did not have such a good experience when it comes to results. Here football.london takes a look at how they all got on.

The big headline grabber was once again Nuno Tavares , who continued his fine start to life on loan at Marseille with yet another goal in their 1-1 draw with Brest. Interestingly enough the Portuguese youth international is being used as a full-back rather than a wing-back for L'OM, and it seems to be bringing the best out of him. He is also encouraged to drift infield by Igor Tudor where he has shown signs of an ability to play an inverted full-back role that could peak Arteta's interest.

Flo Balogun also made it two goals in two Ligue 1 appearances as he put Stade Reims 2-0 up in their clash with Clermont Foot. Clermont would go on to stage a spectacular comeback though, winning the game 4-2 to mean that one again, Balogun's exploits were sadly in vein.

Staying abroad, Pablo Mari made his debut for Monza after securing a loan move earlier this week that includes a €7million (£5.9million) option to buy next summer on the proviso that they are able to stay in Serie A. Monza did not get off to the best of starts in their bid to do that as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Torino. Mari, who was playing in the middle of a back three, received a booking in the loss.

Over in Holland it was an uneventful weekend for Arsenal's trio of loanees who unfortunately weren't given a single minute between them. Omar Rekik and Mika Biereth were unused subs for Sparta Rotterdam and RKC Waalwijk in their Eredivisie clashes, while Nikolaj Moller was not involved at all for FC Den Bosch in the Dutch second tier. Marcelo Flores meanwhile gets his Spanish Segunda Division campaign off and running later today when Real Oviedo take on Andorra.

Alex Kirk was another unused sub as Ayr United took on Hamilton in the Scottish Championship. Ryan Alebiosu did manage to get a full 90 minutes for Kilmarnock in their clash with Scottish giants Celtic. But unfortunately for the Arsenal full-back, those minutes came in a 5-0 defeat.

Back in England, Charlie Patino got another 11 Championship minutes from the bench for Blackpool as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Swansea, while Auston Trusty was unable to keep up his impressive form from last week as Birmingham City lost 1-0 to Cardiff. Harry Clarke, meanwhile, missed out all together with a shin injury that is set to sideline him for a few weeks.

Arthur Okonkwo continued the trend of poor results for the Arsenal loanees as his Crewe side lost 3-0 to Salford City. Tyreece John-Jules was a rare winner though as he came on for 19 minutes in their 3-0 win over MK Dons.

Finally Ovie Ejeheri saw his league debut for Chelmsford City cut short as the game was suspended due to the collapse of a player on the opposing Chippenham Town team. Thankfully the player, Pablo Martinez, is now in high spirits after being initially rushed to hospital.
