Number of young Brits not in education or work a ‘scar on this country’

The scale of young people not in education, employment or training is a “scar on this country”, an expert has said despite new figures showing the number of Neets has fallen by 30,000.

The latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data shows the proportion of all young people in the UK who were Neet in April to June 2026 was 13.0 per cent – 0.5 per cent less than from January to March 2026.
