Firefighters are rescuing more severely obese people from their own homes than ever before as figures continue to rise across the UK.
Specialist equipment is being used to move people who are unable to leave their own home due to their weight as many have become trapped inside their house.
Home Office figures have revealed that firefighters in England attended a record 1,641 “bariatric assists” in 2020-21. This involves coming to the aid of plus-size people, often because they are trapped in their own homes, Wales Online reports.
