The number of patients being treated specifically for Covid-19 in Welsh hospitals is now in single figures, latest statistics show. It comes as the Covid infection rate in Wales falls rapidly.
According to data published by Stats Wales, there were nine patients being actively treated for the virus on November 22 - and two days earlier it had fallen to just six. This is close to the lowest level it has ever been. At the start of this year, when Wales started publishing this dataset, there were 275 patients actively being treated for Covid in Welsh hospitals.
It comes as the number of Covid cases falls across Wales, England and Scotland. According to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) weekly infection survey only Northern Ireland did not see a clear fall, with signs the recent drop has levelled off. All parts of England have seen a significant drop in the last six weeks.
