Northern Territory federal MP and incumbent member for Solomon Luke Gosling will be forced to take a week's break from the campaign trail after testing positive for COVID-19.
Mr Gosling announced the result in a post on his Facebook page this evening.
"I started to feel unwell on Sunday evening and began isolating, but returned negative RATs then and on Monday morning," he wrote.
"Out of an abundance of caution, I decided to take an additional PCR test on Monday, and received a positive result this afternoon.
"If you were a close contact on Friday and over the weekend, please monitor for symptoms.
"I look forward to making a speedy recovery and getting out of isolation early next week."
Solomon is one of just two Lower House seats in the NT, encompassing Darwin and part of Palmerston.
Mr Gosling, a defence force veteran who was first elected in 2016, holds the seat by a thin margin of 3.1 per cent.
His COVID-19 result means it is unclear what will happen with the Solomon candidates debate, which was expected to be held in Darwin on Thursday.
Mr Gosling has been active on the campaign trail in Darwin and Palmerston over the past few weeks.
On Anzac Day he spent much of the day with visiting Deputy Opposition leader Richard Marles, including playing two-up together in a packed Hotel Darwin. Mr Marles tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
