NSW residents will get respite from the rain but authorities remain concerned about renewed flooding in parts of the state.
After fine conditions over the weekend, storms should reappear late on Sunday and continue into Tuesday across the state, with flooding likely to continue for weeks, the Bureau of Meteorology says.
Communities in areas of focus are forecast to receive between four to 30 millimetres of rain from Sunday.
While residents can expect clear weather over the weekend, flood peaks travelling downstream remain a concern, the Bureau said.
The northern NSW towns of Bourke and Walgett, the central west's Forbes and Condobolin and Riverina towns of Hay and Moama are areas of focus for the NSW State Emergency Service.
"Renewed flooding will most likely start from Tuesday for most river systems," a NSW SES spokeswoman told AAP on Friday.
"Most catchments are already in flood due to very wet conditions."
The SES has urged people in those areas to monitor the situation and prepare an evacuation plan.
Recovery efforts are ongoing in Moree where the SES are completing rapid building assessments to allow some residents to return home.
SES operations are also underway in Forbes, Condobolin, Moama and Deniliquin.
"Basically from the Queensland border to the Victorian border, every inland riverine is flooded," a spokeswoman said.
The Murray River Council, which covers Moama, has asked residents not to remove sandbags over concerns more rain will fall in the coming days.
Nine evacuation warnings were in place in Moama and Moree while another 39 watch-and-act alerts had been issued statewide, as of Friday afternoon.
