NSW has two deaths, 9466 COVID-19 cases

NSW has recorded 9466 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths in latest reporting period.

The number of positive cases was down by 1872 from Thursday when 11,338 people tested positive to COVID-19.

The deaths were of a man in his 80s from Sydney's Eastern Suburbs who was unvaccinated and the other was a man in his 90s from the Forster and Taree area who had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the start of the pandemic stands at 1928.

There are 1000 people in hospital with COVID-19 including 42 in intensive care units with 18 of them requiring ventilation.

Of the 9,466 positive cases recorded, 6,050 were positive rapid antigen tests (RATs) and 3,416 positive PCR tests out of more than 31,000 tests conducted.

More than 95 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 94.4 per cent have received two doses so far

Meanwhile, anyone who tests positive to the virus and are isolating during the NSW floods emergency have been asked to obey any orders to evacuate.

COVID-19 positive people arriving at flood evacuation centres must notify staff, wear a mask and physically distance from others.
