A NSW police officer has been charged with a sexual offence involving a teenage girl and, in a separate incident, another officer had her driver's licence suspended over alleged drink driving.

A 27-year-old probationary constable from the Northern region was charged on Thursday with sexual offences involving a minor and offensive behaviour in a public place or school.

Police said they began investigating reports of an alleged sexual offence involving a 17-year-old girl in December.

The man is on conditional bail and will appear in Singleton Local Court on May 11.

His employment with NSW Police is being reviewed.

In a separate matter, an off-duty officer had her licence suspended after being charged with mid-range drink driving in Sydney's inner west on Good Friday.

The 32-year-old, who is attached to a specialist command, allegedly returned a positive breath test about 6am, before a secondary breath analysis showed a reading of 0.081.

She was issued a field court attendance notice and is due in Newtown Local Court on May 1.
